I have spent well over 100 hours on the Kenai River fishing in Ron’s boat. I like using video and photography to capture people doing what they enjoy most and the idea of capturing action scenes and following moving objects with my drone has captivated me. I was already making plans when my wife told me she had been talking with her sister and Ron was hoping I could capture him running his boat up the river.
Floating Cameras, LLC
I am looking for opportunities to demonstrations of my abilities with a drone and better develop my skills. I walked away from my first opportunity to capture some possibly amazing footage at Shoshone Falls in Idaho this Spring because I didn’t have the confidence in my skills at the time. The water was flowing at record levels and I just didn’t feel I had enough experience to risk my bird.
So, with some practice under my belt and more confidence in my ability I accepted the next opportunity to come along, a high speed chase over water where there was no chance of recovering my drone if I made a mistake or something went wrong. The stakes were high.
The Runs
Day one produced good results but was a bit nerve wracking. The second day was a perfect run, and the third day I tried a new mode and was more focused on learning the new mode than the video stream so I got mostly boat and water because I was flying too close. From the three days I have more than enough usable video, with the second day’s perfect run as an example of a 15 minute chase at 25 mph.
The Drone video and images
Processing the video has been a major challenge. With over an hour of video from various flights along with panoramic and 3D modeling the three days visit has created over a weeks worth of work for me.
The Output
To demonstrate the value of a custom mission I have tried to identify many useful and interesting ways to utilize the drones output. Knowing the industry, what, why, and when to capture the right images or video is what Floating Cameras, LLC specializes in. Our remote pilot knows the industry and are trained on capturing the ‘right’ data from your mission. Their goal is to enable you to fully recognize what drone ‘data’ can do in helping accomplish your goals.
